APRIL WRAP UP: WAIT-- WE MISSED BRETT MICHAELS, THE LOUISIANA OIL SPILL, AND THE ARIZONA IMMIGRATION LAW-- LET'S DISCUSS!

There are so many news items going on in L.A., let alone the world and we just can't cover it all. But, there are a few events that deserve at least a mention:

Our favorite Rocker of Love, Brett Michaels, is said to have suffered a set back in his recovery and is being watched closely in case of seizures. Earlier in the week he was said to be in stable condition and to have shown some improvement after the brain hemmorhage that he suffered last Friday. He was even said to be talking. We had to make mention because we have been watching "Celebrity Apprentice" and we are former fans of his reality show "Rock of Love" (the first season, not the second).  Blessings to him and his family as he travels the path of recovery. If you know Brett's True Hollywood Story, he'd been in critical danger on other occassions in his life for different reasons but has always come through. Hopefully, this will again be the case. Okay, we know you've heard about the oil spill that is happening in ocean water near the Louisiana coastline. In summary: On April 22nd an off-shore drilling explosion is causing oil major spillage in the ocean waters near Louisiana. Basically, the oil is gushing out of the ocean floor to the tune of 5,000 barrels per day. The results of that explosion are tremendous:  17 people were injured and 11 are unaccounted for (missing).  Another tragedy is that all of the oil that is poisoning the ocean is headed straight for the Louisiana shoreline, and is said to possibly reach the coast as early as tonight. This is horrible for sea life, wildlife and humans alike. And, not to mention that we're talkin' about Louisiana, the state (and people) that suffered unrecoverable damage from massive flooding after Hurrican Katrina ripped through. Ay, ay, ay, now this! Watch the video for details. It's absolutely horrible...and like the recent coal mining accident that killed and injured several, it's all in the name of BIG OIL. Something needs to change. It's totally going down in Arizona after the immigration bill SB1070 was signed into law. Per an article on Huffington post.com, the law authorizes police detention based on suspicion of illegal presence on U.S. soil and the failure to provide documentation to prove otherwise. The suspicion of illegal status CAN be based on skin color which has got a lot of folks up in arms. Can you say, racial profiling in epic proportions? Granted, there are alot of people (based on the pic above alone) who are undocumented in the U.S. but this has been the case for decades. These people feel like they are at home and they are fighting mad, and fighting back. There also sympathy groups getting on board with threats to boycott the state. Even L.A.'s mayor Villaraigosa has stamped his approval of L.A. participating in the widely discussed boycott. This battle is going to be a long and ugly one from what we can tell. Wonder if something like that would happen here in L.A.? If they made all of the "illegals" go home, L.A. would probably shut down completely. I swear, it's like we're living in Tijuana. Oops! Did we say that out loud?? For the Complete Story: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/emma-rubysachs/legal-challenge-to-arizon_b_557678.html
