THROWBACK THURSDAY: CARTOON CLASSIC UNDERDOG GETS THE SHORT STRAW

The 1964 (synd 1973) classic cartoon, UNDERDOG, was one of our fave's back in the da... *cough* we mean our parent's day...anywho, so we decided to play this American Superhero proper homage on this fab Throwback Thursday.

For those of you born before 1975 you probably don't know UNDERDOG (*edit* After posting we learned that our 17 yr old intern Patrick knows of Underdog and that made our day). Whatever the reason, if you have been missing out on UNDERDOG all of these years watch the above clip immediately and then go to YouTube and watch more of this dynamic mutt.

"Sledgehammer" fists, "atomic" breath, and an emergency "energy pill" secrety stored in a magical ring, are some of the reasons UNDERDOG is unbeatable. By day, he's a humble shoeshine boy but when local newscaster, poodle Sweet Polly Purebreed, calls in distress, he transforms into Underdog and handles business. Oh, and did we mention he talks in rhyme? This cat (not cat as in kitty but in the way of bad meaning good) was waaay before his time.

But, seriously, UNDERDOG, is not handsome, nor is he really that smart. But he does power us with positivity. UNDERDOG tells his audience that they can do anything that they put their minds to if they keep trying. That's what we get out of it at least. Other fun factors of UNDERDOG are the extraordinarily bad arch nemesises who keep UNDERDOG flying to the rescue, the conspiracy food-for-thoughts (if you know anything about nwo this is for you), and the very randomness of it. It's outside the box without being in your face bells and whistle crazy. The cherry on top is that, not only will you laugh, you will also learn something. But enough of our chattering. This partial episode (above), UNDERDOG battles arch nemesis, Overcat (get it?), a big bully from the planet Felina who spends his days walking the streets reaking havok and wrecking shop. Planet Felina, occupied by mobs of oversized cats, run out of milk (their milk "wells" [think oil wells] run dry) so they journey to earth to kidnap all of the cows to replenish and sustain their food supply. But Underdog ain't havin it. Relax and check it out. Become a fan so we can bring him back. Grand fun. Twitter Trend???
