An actor best known for his supporting role in the movie "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" was convicted Thursday for the 2008 stabbing of an ex-girlfriend in San Marcos. The jury in San Diego County Superior Court in Vista, Calif., deliberated for two days before convicting Shelley Malil, 45, in the attack on Kendra Beebe, 38, in an alleged fit of jealousy. Beebe was stabbed more than 20 times with a kitchen knife. Malil, who lived in Sherman Oaks, testified that he lashed out in fear that a man he found in Beebe's apartment was about to attack him. But prosecutors said Malil brought a knife to the apartment with the intent of attacking Beebe. He was convicted of premeditated attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence. He was also convicted of assault on the man in Beebe's apartment. He was found not guilty of residential burglary. Malil faces a possible sentence of 21 years to life in prison.
