Maurice Simpson with his new face... |
These poor creatures suffer from Neurofibromatosis, which causes grossly large tumors on the body and face. We actually saw the entire show and we were completely dumbstruck in awe at the effects this disease have on its victims. Maurice Simpson is the man you see in the beginning of the clip in the gym. He has a wife and (now) four children and embraces his looks 100%. He has an undeniable confidence which has given him the semblance of a normal life. Reggie also suffers from the disease but he doesn't have the same confidence, and as a result has lived a pretty lone life-- with the exception of his foundation, "Just Ask". Reggie created to help raise awareness about the disease. The two men meet on the show and Reggie gets inspired to get out a little more. Maurice decides to try surgery one last time and we see the results of that at the end. This show really let us know how blessed we are. Anyone of us could have been born like them. Thank You, God! ReplyDeleteIt's sad to witness human suffering. It's good to see the bravery to be publicized so others can empathize.
ReplyDeleteWow what a trip! That's unimaginable.
ReplyDelete"But by the grace of God I go"
ReplyDeleteFirst I want to say God bless both of these gentlemen because that has to be a pretty devastating circumstance to live with.
I can only IMAGINE the level of ostrication
from classmates and the general public they must endure DAILY. In order to have some semblance of a normal life...must be difficult at best.
My goodness that must be hard.
God bless them both.
