EX-BART COP SENTENCED TO 2 YEAR BID + TIME SERVED GRANTED FOR OSCAR GRANT KILLING...

Former Bay area transit officer Johannes Mehserle was sentenced to 2 years in jail for shooting and killing unarmed (and restrained) 22 year old Oscar Grant New Year's Day 2009.  He has also been given credit for the 292 days served up to this point. The maximum sentence for his involuntary manslaughter charge is 14 years, an obvious and significant difference from the 2 year sentence. Police were geared up for potential protests/riots.
