Carolina White was allegedly kidnapped by Ann Pettaway (pic'd above) when she was a 19 day old baby. Her bio mother, Joy, took her to a Harlem hospital to be treated for a fever when Pettaway allegedly stole her. Twenty three years later, the truth has surfaced and Pettaway is now in custody facing kidnapping charges.
Carolina (pic'd above), raised by Pettaway as Nejdra Nance, said she never felt a connection with Pettaway, who reportedly abused Carolina to some degree. When she was old enough to ask questions a final red flags were raised when Carolina discovered Pettaway on a "missing person's" website, and subsequently could not produce a birth certificate. Carolina became persistent with finding out the truth and using the internet, eventually found her birth mother Joy, who never gave up hope. "I'm so happy," she [Carolina White] said. "At the same time, it's a funny feeling because everything's brand new. It's like being born again."
