HOLLYWOOD STUDIO CONTRACT APPROVED BY TEAMSTERS, STRIKE AVERTED...

The Teamsters, representing Local Union 399's Hollywood Studio transportation workers, held a vote on Sunday on whether to approve the newly ratified contracts, or to strike until they received the contract upgrades they requested from The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents the studios. Teamsters and the AMPTP met on Friday night and Teamsters rejected the contract, but the AMPTP came back Saturday with a few enhancements on what they claimed to be a final offer, which was accepted by vote on Sunday. Yup, the standing room only crowd of studio drivers and transportation workers approved the newly ratified contracts by an overwhelming 97%.

What exactly did they approve? A 2% salary increase (1% less than what they'd asked for), and enhancements in benefits, meals, medical tests, driver's licenses, and staffing out-of-Los Angeles productions. Whew! Looks like a bullet was dodged because the city of L.A., with it's  just can't handle a strike out of Hollywood right now. Haven't you heard? Shizz if fugged up out here! [THR]
