India's economy is doing so well, its currency is getting its own distinct symbol! Yep, India is officially an international force... its presence known now as being backed by (more than) a trillion dollar economy. There are other "rupees" in places like Pakistan, Indonesia and Sri Lanka, so this is India's way of peacocking and stepping out of the pack. International trade speaks loudly and it's the U.S. dollar everyone is worried about, not India's rupee.
