The Eddie Long case is moseying right along since he filed official responses to the sexual coercion allegations against him by four (young male) ex-members of his New Birth Ministries Church. In the court docs, he admits to allegations of travels and sharing rooms, but with all of his members and only platonically. And, of course, he categorically denies all of the sexual allegations against him by the four plaintiffs. Certain members of the church are also listed in the complaint being accused of "failure to warn" the plaintiffs about Long's predatory ways.
The first hearing was held Friday, November 19th where a tentative July trial date was set. All of the attorneys for the plaintiff were in attendance but Long was notably absent. Immediately following the hearing, both parties sought and got a mediation date in February 2011. This speaks to the beginning of settlement talks. It will certainly be eyebrow raising if Long indeed settles, as settlement alludes to guilt. And, a side eye will go to the accusers as they have stated that this is not about money, but about justice. If this is the case, they will not settle but go to trial and let a jury decide the rest. It would be the trial of the millennium for sure.
