OWNER OF THE SEGWAY COMPANY DIES AFTER SEGWAY ACCIDENT...

62 year old James Heselden, owner of The Segway Company, died after an accident on his....wait for it...SEGWAY! Actually, it is reported that he accidentally drove it off of a cliff and died as a result. This is an unbelievable tragedy. Very sad and just strange. Read the details here.

19 YR OLD NIGERIAN WRITER GETS 2-BOOK PUBLISHING DEAL FOR HER STUDENT WORK...

 Congrats to Chibundu Onuzo a Nigerian born student and writer who just inked a 2-book publishing deal, her first, with London based publisher, Capel & Land.  Chibundu is from Nigerian but moved to the UK four years ago.  Her parents are doctors who had the smarts to enroll her in the UK's King's College London where she studies history. Her first novel was a student effort called The Spider King's Daughter, which according to the publisher's website, "is the tale of an unlikely friendship between a male street hawker and a daughter of the corrupt elite that struggles to establish itself amidst the prejudices of Nigerian society". They also note that it "is at once a darkly humorous coming of age tale and the story of a country torn between its past, its future, and the choices it faces". In addition, they state that "Faber will publish The Spider King's Daughter in Summer 2011". And, that, "Chibundu’s second novel, to be published by Faber in Summer 2012, follows two soldiers during the Niger Delta conflict". Woo-hoo! There's hope for us all! [Source]

WYCLEF JEAN HOSPITALIZED...

 Word is, Wyclef was recently hospitalized in New Jersey for symptoms of stress and fatigue and the above tweet is confirmation. This comes off of the heels of him trying to run for president of Haiti, and reports that he owes 2.4 million in back mortgage payments for a home is co-owns with friends in Miami. Reports state that payments stopped in 2004 and the home is in forclosure. We're stressed out just reading about it, geesh! [Source]

VH1'S "BASKETBALL WIVES" ADDS 2 NEW "WIVES" TO SEASON 2'S CAST + MATT BARNES DOMESTIC VIOLENCE UPDATE...

"Basketball Wives" season 2 is approaching and with that comes 2 new "wives". Up first is Tammy Roman (in red above). If you're old enough, you may remember her from the first cast of The Real World Los Angeles (we do!) after which she married basketball player Kenny Anderson. She divorced him 4 years later and as a result was awarded 1/2 of his income and assets, in addition to $8500 per month in child support. Kenny has a total of 7 children, so it's not surprising that Kenny fell behind in his child support payments. She reportedly sued him for back-payments to the tune of $100k. Kenny has since filed for bankruptcy. Fun fact: Kenny is the father of 2 of Spinderella's kids.

Next up is Ashley Walker, longtime girlfriend/fiance' of NBA free agent Rafer Alston. Rafer most recently played for the Miami Heat before he was benched on suspension. So, basically we have an ex-wife, and a not-quite wife. And, we don't see Gloria or Suzie in the group pic above. Hmmm. It has been reported that Gloria will show up later but she agreed to only shoot with Suzie so that could be why. We shall soon see though.

Speaking of Gloria, she appeared in court with baby's dad Matt Barne's for his arraignment on his domestic violence charges brought against him earlier this month. The victim's name was never disclosed but we assume it's Gloria as the police report stated he and a longtime girlfriend were in a brawl which resulted in injuries to both parties. Almost immediately after, Gloria made a statement through a pr rep that Matt never harmed her or their children. Matt took to Twitter to say to believe what your eye's didn't see. His hearing addressing his felony domestic abuse charges and obstructing justice charge was delayed and is now set for October 18th. We'll keep you posted. [Source 1] [Source 2]

How crazy is this website, priceofweed.com? It tells you the going rate of marijuana in any given area based on consumer submissions. The prices are based on quality and amount, and the info is posted by consumers. The map is a part of the blog @ http://priceofweed.tumblr.com, which launched September 9th. They boasted that they have received an impressive 3,000 submissions on September 15th, and garnered recognition from solid news sources such as TIME and CBS. Sounds like marijuana is a hot topic, yeah. And, with Prop 19 on the November ballot, this is a big deal. A biiggg deal. [Source]

WATCH THE 7TH SEASON OPENER OF "THE OFFICE"...(VIDEO)

The 7th season of "The Office" kicked off Thursday night and it was totally funny. We get to catch up with the employees of the Scranton, PA branch of DunderMifflin and find out what they did over the summer. One of the things Michael did was hire his nephew as an office assistant and he sucks in everything he does. The office employees hate him, and when they find out about the nepotism at play, they hate him even more. Other hijinks take place with Dwight, of course. *Spoiler Alert* Dwight bought the building that houses DunderMifflin, which should provide plenty of opportunity for knee-slapping comedy though out the season-- we should hope. Love this show! Hope the rumblings about Steve Carrell aka Michael leaving this season aren't true. That was fast! *head spinning* Via TMZ, Lindsay bailed out to the tune of $300,000.00. (Of course, only a percentage is that is paid in cash. 10%, we think.) But this is no credit to Lindsay, her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley is the woman behind the happenings. Say what you will about Ms. Holley but she got game. She filed an immediate appeal and by doing so got another judge to sign off on the bail allowance. Lindsay has to wear an alcohol ankle bracelet and is subjected to search and testing at any time. But what does she care? She's out.

Lindsay's dad, Michael, however is not so impressed. He bitched and moaned that Shawn and Dina, Lindsay's mom, are enabling her. He's furious that she wasn't sent back to UCLA's rehab facility. There's some Tom-Foolery where the first stint at UCLA is concerned too. Reportedly, they signed off on Lindsay's early release, stating she wasn't addicted and okay to go home. Well, instead she headed to NYC for Fashion Week. O_o Bad idea, Linds. You seriously need more people. And, come on, Dina! If you're gonna ride the money train, keep up the maintenance.
