R.I.P. Natasha Richardson...Godspeed

Natasha Richardson, Actress("Parent Trap", "Maid in Manhattan") and Tony Award winner (Cabaret, 1998) passed away yesterday, March 18th, from a head injury, which resulted from a "minor" ski accident. It's a really sad story, honestly. At 45, she still had a lot to offer the world, not to mention her family. Wife of Liam Neeson (who's most recent film, "Taken", is off the charts) daughter of Actress/Activist Vanessa Redgrave and Producer Tony Richardson, and niece of actress Lynn Redgrave, the family acting dynasty is strong (there are others not listed). Natasha seemed to have lived a full and blessed life and also, sadly, leaves behind two sons. The deadly fall, reportedly ocurred while taking a ski lesson on a bunny trail at a Canadian ski resort. The fall was not taken as seriously as it should have because she was said to have been joking and walking around almost immediately afterward. The resort called for an ambulance but when it arrived it was turned away despite the advice of a ski instructor and a ski patroller for her to see a doctor. These reports beg the question: "Could she have been saved?" Sadly, more so for her family and loved ones, we will never know.

This is a lesson to all: If you fall and hit your head seek immediate medical attention! Even though there may not be an appearance of physical injury, there is a possibility that there is internal bleeding. With head trauma, bleeding can cause deterioration within a few hours or a few days.
