Stephanie Flores Ramirez
Natalee Holloway
These dude. Surely you're already up to speed on Joran van der Sloot's arrest for the murder of Peruvian student, Stephanie Flores Ramirez. Van der Sloot was caught on camera with Ms. Ramirez both leaving the casino (where they met) and entering his hotel room. The floor was soaked with blood and her brutalized body was found wrapped in a blanket on the floor in his room. He was caught trying to leave the city in a cab. The physical evidence is stacked against him and after one night of interrogation by Interpol, he confessed to the murder. Now, he says he "was tricked" and wants to recant. Really? Here we go again. (Wait there's more...)
Yea, there's no trial with a judge and jury when it comes to murder. Nope, there are three officials who preside over the murder case, and sentencing doesn't have to be a unanimous decision. Joran's private attorney is trying to halt the process.Isn't his confession documented? Can you take back such things and in such a situation? The change of heart came after his mother came for a visit. Now he has a private attorney and they are charging foul in the arrest and interrogation of Joran. They claim his rights were violated.
Via CNN:
"I have been imposed an unofficial translator whom has confused me, with the intention of pressuring me to incriminate myself in the homicide investigation," the 22-year-old claims in a complaint, obtained by CNN, which was filed on Wednesday.
"I was tricked," the paper quoted him as saying. "In my blind panic, I signed everything, but didn't even know what it said."
Surely, you also know that he was arrested but not charged for the murder of then missing Natalee Holloway. His father, an Arubian Lawyer and Judge, is suspected of having a large influence on Joran's remaining free. If he were in the U.S., it wold have been a wrap. Natalee's death has been confirmed but her body still hasn't been found. There's an arrest warrant out for van der Sloot now for soliciting the whereabouts of Natalee's body for a lump sum of money. The money he was advanced, $5000, is said to be how he traveled from Aruba to Peru, where he eventually met Stephanie. Peru's judicial system works a liiitttle differently than here in the U.S. This will be worth keeping an eye on.
