So, you probably know there's been a nationwide egg recall announced (publicly) this past Friday. They're saying that eggs purchased between April and August should be discarded. (April?! Who still has eggs from April...May, or even June and July?) And, the update is that the recall count is now at 1/2 a billion! Yeah, these eggs are very possibly laced with salmonella, but if you cook them you supposedly cure them (Not!). The infected eggs come from multiple Iowa farms (we don't have egg farms in California?!) and are reportedly either from rodents, sick hens, or tainted feed.
Ewww, gross! All of the above make our stomachs turn, flip, flop and burn. Time to home farm, folks! Two thousand related illnesses have been reported so far (August no's aren't in yet. Eeek!). If you get diarrhea, stomach cramps and fever within 72 hours of eating raw(ish) eggs, then you need see a doctor ASAP. It's a life threatening situation, Babes. Seriously.
Can we eat eggs ever again after this? Ugh. [
