Actually, Bravo calls "9 by Design" a docu-series, not a "reality show", but whichever the case we love it! Even enough to dub the show The New Black! Meaning: Everyone should watch and then try to be like them! Lol! Robert and Cortney Novogratz are a husband and wife design team who also stay busy raising their 7(!) children:Wolfgang, 12, twins Bellamy and Tallulah, 10, Breaker, 8, twins Five, Holleder, 4 and Major, now 1(?). The kids are a very big part of the show, which gives it an edge that others don't because they are each so cool (did you check their names?). Example: Jon and Kate Plus 8 didn't have kick ass careers like the Novogratz's. And, this brood is just so much more interesting. Much, much more. And, unlike most reality tv shows today, it's clean enough for kids to watch, yet not cheesy, or boring.
We love the Novogratz's 'cause they're attractive (just being honest), full of life and love, and real. We love the incredible project-to-project journey as they build both their business, and their family (child #7, baby Major, was born on the second episode)-- while making it look seamless. As a whole the Novogratz family embodies a free flowing, rock n' roll- edgy, vintage/bohemian energy and it's very intoxicating. A kind of devil may care lifestyle but with reasoning and time-outs. They make us want to chuck what we're doing to go pursue our innermost dream. Oh, wait, we're already doing that! Cortney and Robert (the parents), in particular, are very inspirational at home and work.
Both Robert and Cortney are chic, driven, level-headed but quirky, talented, and down to earth despite their successes. Bottom-line: they're bad-ass! In fact, Cortney is much like Kelly Cultrone, who has her own reality show, "Kell on Earth" (also on Bravo): Driven, creative and smart without pulling any punches. "Dear God, we would love to have dinner with Cortney Novogratz and Kelly Cultrone. Thank You. Amen." They are clearly women who know how to get things done while not compromising who they are. Both hailing from large Southern families, Bob and Cortney shared the desire to have a lot of kids and are parents to seven children – Wolfgang, 12, twins Bellamy and Tallulah, 10, Breaker, 8, twins Five and Holleder, 4. At the close of the premiere episode, Cortney goes into labor with the newest addition to the family, a son, Major. New York City may not be the typical place to raise a large and growing family, but for the Novogratz family there's no place they'd rather be.
