FORMER BART OFFICER FOUND GUILTY OF INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER FOR SHOOTING OSCAR GRANT IN THE BACK-- GOOD ENOUGH? (VIDEO)

We're sure you are familiar with the case of 22 year old Oscar Grant III being shot in the back and subsequently killed by former BART Officer Johannes Mehserle, 28 (and white) on New Years Day 2009. If not, the young man was on his stomach being handcuffed when he was shot in the back and it was caught on tape. The officer's gun was said to be mistaken for a taser, so the act was unintentional, hence the verdict of Involuntary Manslaughter, which came down yesterday.
Not surprisingly, the light verdict kicked off riots in Oakland.  The involuntary manslaughter charge reportedly carries a 2-4 year sentence but the amount of time (if any) to be served has not yet been determined. We're keeping an ear out for this one. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and we hope they at least get the monetary justice they deserve with their civil lawsuits against the transit agency. [The YBF]

First I'm still puzzled that you can mix your guns up!!
So it seems that no matter what city your in NYC, Chi~Town, Oakland or L.A. When a White Peace Officer kills a Black Man...he does not get the time!! Mercy mercy me..

  3. Saw the video- no struggle and person was on the ground "behaving" waiting to be handcuffed- There is No way an officer can confuse a taser to a gun- and excuse me but if the tables were turned and race was other way around.... the yelling and screaming for a victim on the ground and then shot would rock our world!!!! so sad and nothing can fix this non judgement, nothing.
