WHERE ARE ALL OF THE FEMALE EMCEE'S? NEW BET DOCUMENTARY EXPLORES... (VIDEO)

1998 was a good year for female emcee's and Vibe magazine validates this with these old school covers from said year. But what has happened to the female emcee in the years following? Where is she today? Sure, there's Nicki Minaj, but she has Li'l Wayne and crew behind her (in other words: she's a developed/manufactured artist pushed by the hottest rapper on deck). She can't be the only female rapper in existence with that "IT" factor. Why is it so hard for female emcee's to get on? Well, the documentary, "My Mic Sounds Nice: The Truth About Women and Hip Hop" premiered on BET last night, and it explores all of these questions and then some, with some of rap's biggest names speaking out on the subject. Interesting stuff for any inquisitive mind. Pop the Trunk to check it out...

SPOTTED: GALACTIC BARBIE AMBER ROSE...

Straight out of a crayon box, Amber was spotted leaving The London Hotel in Midtown Manhattan yesterday. We know some of ya'll are gagging but we actually think she looks cute. No doubt she and Nicki Minaj are truly style sisters. [The YBF]

THE BET AWARDS INVADED L.A. THIS WEEKEND...

The 10th annual BET Awards smashed through L.A. this weekend, and filmed yesterday at the Shrine auditorium. Admittedly, we didn't watch (other thangs to do!) but according to sources it was a hit. Queen Latifah hosted (assisted by her alter-ego Cleo from "Set it Off"), and there were performances galore from Drake, Eminem, Usher and Kanye, to Keisha Cole, Monica, and Nicki Minaj. We heard (Twitter) Chris Brown did the dang thing with his MJ tribute (tears and all... were they for MJ, or his career?), Alicia Keys glowed as she performed her last performance while pregnant, Prince received a lifetime achievement award, and El Debarge made a "comeback performance"?-- for those two alone it's worth a DVR look. Wait, there's more...

Nicki Minaj Covers Black Men Magazine-- Is It Just Us, Or Is She Really Just Li'l Kim 2.0?

Is it just us? Or are we seeing double? Like the Lakers, is it a Repeat? We are guessing most of Nicki's fans are 12 years old and don't know Li'l Kim like we do. Otherwise, she would not have a career right now. It's true that everybody deserves to get their shine, but not off of copying someone else. Not a good look...at least not for true hip hop fans who know the real. Shame on you Diddy! Just sayin.
