It's rumored (Variety magazine says so) that bad girl talk show host Chelsea Handler just inked an 8-figure deal (that's in the range of 10's of millions) with Comcast Entertainment for 3 more years of her E! late-night talk show, "Chelsea Lately". Word is her ratings beat out those of the other late night guys in the 18-34 year old market, making her top-dog with advertisers. We're sure the fact that her live-in boyfriend, Comcast Entertainment's President & CEO Ted Harbert is only the icing on the cake and not the ingredients of it. You go, Girl!

The Recap: Basically, he broke up with her during their 3 year relationship and very shortly thereafter starting dating Giselle. Two months into Tom and Giselle's relationship, Bridget announced that she was pregnant. I'm guessing Bridget probably thought this news would reel him back in, but, um, it didn't. He continued his relationship, very publicly, with Giselle and Bridget wasn't happy.

Obama Requests that Rick Wagoner, CEO of GM, Resign...and He Did!
GM's CEO of 8 years, Rick Wagoner, asked to resign by President Obama, and he does just that. Obama most likely put his foot on Wagoner's post because Wagoner has been criticized for not doing enough to slash debt and cut costs, per his agreement with the government upon receiving federal financial assistance. Interestingly, Obama to announce next steps to help GM and Chrysler tomorrow. Not a good look for Wagoner...hopefully GM will benefit in the long-run!

TWITTER STAR OF THE WEEK: ACTRESS JURNEE SMOLLETT
Why??? Because she's fantabulous! If you don't know her work, look her up: "Eve's Bayou", was her on screen debut (way back in the day), and "The Debaters" was her most recent alongside Denzel(awesome flick, btw). We follow her on Twitter (and we're pretty sure it's really her) and though she's not a big Tweeter, she's doing great things. Like what, you ask? Well, like "still writing a speech for Oprah's Academy visit today", and "getting ready to leave for a dinner I'm guest of honor at...The Conul General is hosting me" and "reading report on young men and the construction of masculinity n sub saharan africa". Though these were things she listed that she was supposed to be doing instead of Twittering, we're sure she got them all handled proper-like. Bottom line: We looovvve Herrrrr!

Tonight, from 8:30pm - 9:30pm, no matter your timezone, city municipalities and citizens across the globe are participating in Earth Hour, organized by WorldWide Wildlife Foundation France to show support in the fight against climate change. This means all electricity is off, yes, even the TV. Come'on, it's only an hour! Let's do it!

This was the first night's performance of the three. He got real political in this piece, "Ol' Skool Company" saying such things as, "the White House is now the Black House" and referencing AIG's bailout,which we love. We don't get Prince very often, so enjoy!

Hey Peeps! As an update to a previous Twitter post, we have found the true stats on the company. The company has been busy adding features to the product like Gmail import and search. They recently launched a new site section called “Explore” for external and third party tools that interact with Twitter and a new visualization tool called Twitter Blocks. When it was all said and done, alas, The Lakers took their first win against the Pistons at The Palace since January 8, 2002. This is huge for The Lakers! And, Kobe was all smiles for a change as he left the venue: "It feels good to finally walk out of here with a win,'' said Bryant, who helped Los Angeles score the last 20 points of the third quarter, which helped them to surge ahead for a final score of 92-77. Boy oh boy oh boy. Dame Dash doesn't doesn't quit when it comes to his arrogance and ego driven bravado. In response to the latest press reports about his personal problems, Dame simply says: "My mistake was watching everybody else's career and not watching mine." (he says a little more...blames his attention to the careers of Rachel Roy and Jim Jones, yea whatever man.) But his former attorney (1991-1997), Combat Jack (per his blog) says other wise:
I confess, when it comes to Damon Dash, I set my watch like 13 years ago, waiting to see when shit like this would happen to him. Not outta hate though, not outta jealousy even, shit I owe dude for helping me in building my business, in helping me to establish a solid reputation in the game, in becoming the person that I am today. The reason I set my watch is because I've seen him humiliate and disgrace so many people, throw so many souls under the proverbial bus that even then, I knew that the shit he's publicly suffering through now was coming, inevitable, only a matter of time. In the Real World: Joblessness Claims Reach Record Heights

WASHINGTON — For a 10th straight week, the number of people who are continuing to claim jobless benefits increased, fresh evidence that the labor market remains weak despite other hopeful signs that the recession may have bottomed out.
New claims for unemployment benefits last week rose to a seasonally adjusted 652,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 644,000, the Labor Department said Thursday. The total number of people claiming benefits jumped to 5.56 million, worse than economists' projections of 5.48 million, a ninth straight record and the highest total on records dating back to 1967.
Advice to those working: First & foremost, Be Grateful! Next: Stay ahead of the game. Go above and beyond the call of duty-- or in other words, do more than what's expected of you. Triple check your work. Be early or, at least on time, each and every day. Don't take days off; Do your best to schedule appointments around your work schedule. . It's no joke out there and there are lines of other qualified people waiting to take your job...and very probably for less money. So, Stay on your toes. Just sayin'!

Vanessa Bryant a Bad Boss? Yes, Says the Maid!
This pic is classic, right? Now, about the story: Vanessa Bryant is getting a bad rap for being a bad boss. Their maid, Maria Jimenez, is suing both Vanessa and Kobe for wrongful termination, invasion of privacy, emotional distress and unpaid wages because of a long list of alleged craziness itemized below:
Jimenez has alleged that Mrs. Bryant referred to her, at times, as "lazy, slow, dumb, a f*****g liar, and f*****g s**t."
Mrs. Bryant supposedly forced Jimenez to fetch the tag from her blouse out of a bag of dog feces because Jimenez washed said blouse incorrectly. At that point, Jimenez alleges she attempted to quit and Mrs. Bryant told her she "had to work until payday to pay for the $690 blouse, which she did."
Jimenez says that Mrs. Bryant accused her of stealing a retainer (mouth, obviously) in addition to having "badgered, harrassed and humiliated ... " the maid.

Totally Relevant: We Salute You, Mimi Valdes Ryan!
Our premiere soon-to-be-weekly "Totally Relevant" post is dedicated Editor-Extraordinaire, Mimi Valdes Ryan. In her newest role as Editor-In-Chief of Latina magazine, Mimi Valdes Ryan has 15 years in the magazine biz and to this day is continuing to make giant leaps forward. Most of her career was spent at Vibe magazine, where she got her start as an Editorial Assistant. She also held posts at Hola Recordings and The Source (Booo! at The Source...sorry) but Vibe was home until her departure in 2006. Now, Valdes Ryan reigns as Editor of Latina magazine, which makes for an exciting time...not only for Latina mag and the magazine publishing industry as a whole, but also for all mag-addicted fashionistas around the world! But, of course!
A little about Mimi VR in her own words:
I graduated from New York University with a degree in journalism. I've loved magazines since I was a little girl and I desperately wanted to work at one. College gave me a great foundation for my craft and it helped discipline me for the real world. Whenever I was in classes that seemed useless for my career, I just reminded myself that if I could get good grades in subjects I wasn’t interested in, I could handle anything! It’s not easy to study things you don’t like, but if you can train yourself to concentrate and still do well, it will prepare you for life’s harder challenges.

New experiences may help shape you in ways you never thought were possible. The trick is to become comfortable with the fact that you’re always evolving and that you will make mistakes. No one’s perfect, and that’s part of what makes life fun.
